The first antibiotic, penicillin, was discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1928. It helped save lives from diseases such as smallpox and typhoid and other bacterial infections. Today’s antibiotics are more effective and are used to treat a wide range of illnesses.

Rockets are an older invention of the Chinese over three thousand years ago. However, in the 20th century, scientists advanced the technology to make controllable rockets. The most common application of rocketry is in weapons. However, without rockets, the moon landing and exploration of the solar system would not have been possible. Additionally, rockets are used to launch satellites in space for cellular communication, GPS, weather prediction, and many other uses.
